It’s a stunning portrait of love, hope and survival on an isolated island off Western Australia, inspired by the author’s visit to the Houtman Abrolhos islands off Geraldton many years ago as part of a local writers’ festival. When a rickety wooden dinghy washes ashore, its nine occupants – strangers before the storm that tore their vessel apart – face their fears to survive their ordeal. But just forty kilometres away on the mainland lies a tiny fishing village. Life there in Shoalhaven never changes, until now…
'Sanctuary' is Judy Nunn’s 14th novel. Her multifaceted career has included international success as an actor, TV and Radio scriptwriter and, more recently, as a novelist. In 2015, she was made a Member of the Order of Australia for her significant service to the performing arts and literature.
